PossibilityThis is a featured page

From where ever you stand (or sit) right now almost anything is possible. In fact, there are an infinite number of possibilities, and, the good news is, you get to choose among them. This may seem improbable if not impossible to you, because, you might argue, if I am here now I can't be on the other side of the world in the next moment. This is true; however, you could be on the other side of the world in a day or two from now. This is entirely in the realm of possibility. In other words, the possibilities that we have in any given moment are fewer (yet still extremely large and one might argue nearly infinite) the close we look into the future. The further away we imagine in the future the greater the expanse of possibilities and therefore the more choice that we have over our future. You might also argue that not all possibilites are equally probable. This is also true; however, you can change the probability by consciously choosing a particular possibility. For example, if you don't choose to go the the other side of the world in the next couple of days, then it is very improbable that it will happen. However, if you do, the probability increases greatly. The more committed you are to any given possibility the greater its probability. Creating a life that you love means imagining the possibility of this life in your future, choosing it and committing to it, so that your actions become directed toward this possibility. If you don't actively chose a possibility then whatever you are randomly thinking about your future will get created as a default. So, create intentionally.

The Power in How You Think About it.
During the middle ages, two stone masons were in Paris working on what would become the Notre Dame Cathedral. When asked by a traverler what they were doing, one answered, “Squaring a stone”. While the other replied, “I am building a catherdral.”

Two different ways of looking at the same activity. Which way brings you inspiration?
The Notre Dame Cathedral took 200 years to complete, yet someone held a vision for its existence before it was even started.

We always have a choice about how we look at each of our activities each day. Chose an interpretation of your activity that inspires you; because, that feeling of being inspired will give you a life worth living.

I see value in both ways of looking at stone masons' activity. The first way, squaring the stone, one might say is the buddist way. It puts you in the moment of now where true living excite. It allows you to be present to create quality with your work.
The other way, building a catherdral, brings inspiration because it views the activity as part of a greater whole with a purpose that far exceeds the current act. As the stone is being set the cathedral is just a dream but it is holding those dreams that creates reality.
